Charles VOLNER’s brand launched its Rosé variety in the 75-cL format to satisfy consumer demand.
Charles VOLNER brand (French leader of non-champagne sparkling wines) joined and reinforced CFGV portfolio.
Establishment of a new joint venture between Schloss Wachenheim AG and Bacardi Martini, bringing together "Compagnie Française des Grands Vins", "Maison Veuve Amiot" and "Caves de Wissembourg".
CFGV acquired Maison Veuve Amiot, strengthening its capacity to produce according to “Traditional Method” and adding to its portfolio a renowned estate and respected brand.
Caves de Wissembourg were established in May 1970. Setting its sights on exportation, and particularly to the German market (world largest market), Caves de Wissembourg were strategically located in Alsace (French region close to German borders).
Compagnie Française des Grands Vins (CFGV) was created. Among its founding members was Eugène Charmat, an agronomist and inventor of the closed-tank secondary fermentation method.
Charmat refined the first “aphrophores” (“pressurized vessels”) and developed a method of industrialising the production of sparkling wines.
This date marks the very beginning Maison Amiot’s history. Following her husband death two years earlier, Elisa Amiot decided to take the lead of this trade into her own hands. On April 10th 1884, she founded her fine sparkling wine estate,
Veuve Amiot.
She was a woman with strong personality, intelligent, dynamic and ambitious, and she set a goal for herself that was as lofty as her standards: to develop and distribute a Saumur of prestige, that would be known throughout the world for its impeccable quality.
With her sonss’ assistance, she quickly managed to develop Veuve Amiot’s awareness.
